AW2018/19 "Lack Of"
The “Lack of” collection is inspired by childhood memories of late Soviet years in Eastern Europe, thus from “One Wolf” head designer’s perspective. It was a difficult period and this experience allowed to value the modern-day society in much more meaningful manner. This collection is meant to emphasize the sustainability and quality of hand-made clothing versus the lack of quality in mass produced apparel. Each garment of the collection lives through three stages of one’s life, as a certain someone ages so does this clothing.
Denim is the base of “Lack of”. The choice of this material represents two opposite phenomena, the Soviet society and Modern-day society, deficit of denim clothing, foreign goods and the cult of denimwear, accordingly. The design, material and the title of each garment is symbolic, it is the essence of designer’s memories and experience, where one can feel the presence of 80’s and 90’s by reading the title of each garment, which were inspired by forbidden foreign music. Titles such as “Purple Rain Coat”, “Depeche Coat”, “Holliday Poncho” and “Black celebration Vest”, its easy to draw comparisons.
